Phantoms Swept in 3-Game Series With RCSJ-Cumberland

Media, PA and Vineland, NJ—In one game at home and a pair on the road, Delaware County Community College took a trio of losses to RCSJ-Cumberland.

Hosting on Friday to kick off the series, despite two-hit efforts from both Izaah Perocier and Bryce Johnson, the DCCC Phantoms couldn't overcome errors along the way to an 8-1 defeat. Brady Kopishke offered up a stalwart effort on the mound, throwing 7.1 innings. He allowed 7 runs (5 earned), while striking out five Dukes.

DCCC fell 21-4 with a 10-hit outing in Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader in Vineland. First-year Phantom Kiyon Pinkney delivered a standout offensive performance, going 3-for-4 with singles in the first, fourth, and seventh innings. Steven Perez II also collected three hits, including a double that tied him for the team lead in extra base hits. Matt Delacruz took the loss, with Jeremy Cronin providing long relief, pitching 3.1 innings.

In the back half of the doubleheader, the Phantoms fell 9-1 and were held hitless. The Dukes' no-hitter also brought Gabriel Murphy's seven-game hitting streak to an end. The Phantoms continued to show their aggressiveness on the bases, swiping three bags. Hunter Whitten pitched six innings while striking out four in the losing effort.

Next up, the Phantoms face the Middlesex College Colts on March 18 (3:00 PM) at DCCC's Marple Campus at 901 S Media Line Rd in Media.
